2027 Photojournalism Intern(s)

We are looking for photojournalism interns to further their craft by telling visual stories for Mirror Indy and FPI News throughout 2027. Interns could expect a duration of 3 to 6 months, depending on availability.

Mirror Indy, a nonprofit newsroom that launched in 2023, provides free, community-centered journalism in Indianapolis. FPI News, a nonprofit newsroom that launched in 2026, covers issues that matter to Hoosiers in rural communities, cities and small towns across Indiana. You’ll collaborate with reporters from both news teams, but most assignments will be Indy-based.

The Role

In this role, you will be part of the innovation team and work closely with our art director and community photojournalist. Get a feel for the work we do through our 2024 and 2025 photos of the year galleries.

Because Mirror Indy is a member of the CatchLight Local visual desk, the intern will also have access to support and mentorship from world-class photo editors.

If you are passionate about community-centered, forward-thinking photojournalism, then we encourage you to apply. When you apply, you’ll be invited to share your availability during 2027. Any start and end date will be considered for the strongest candidates.

The deadline to apply is October 31, 2026.
