This posting is for an internship at the Hendrick's County Republican and is not a position with Free Press Indiana.
Under the supervision of the editor and publisher, and in cooperation with his designee, the journalism intern will assist with content creation as needed and assigned. Responsibilities include producing daily/weekly and enterprise content for The Republican’s print and digital products. Interns are required to produce professional content utilizing the SPJ code of ethics, and the Associated Press style guidelines.
For more than 175 years, The Republican has been Hendricks County’s dedicated storyteller. Founded in 1847 — 15 years before the Civil War — the paper was born when local leaders gifted a printing press to bring news, connection and advocacy to the people of Danville and beyond. The Republican continues to honor its mission as a truly local, independently owned newspaper covering the full sweep of life in Hendricks County: births, passings, arrests, triumphs, and struggles. The Republican shares news from the block and from across the world, preserving small-town character while adapting to a changing media landscape.
This internship is funded by the Hendricks County Community Foundation in partnership with the Hendricks County Republican Newspaper and Free Press Indiana.
Expectations for communication and productivity; specific situations may be negotiable.
Expectations for daily/weekly workflow; reasonably flexible based on project timelines, etc.
This position is not for a beginner. Interns should have some experience either with student media or a previous internship — class assignments alone will not qualify applicants for this position.
