We are looking for a full-time social media/web producer who can help Free Press Indiana take a creative, inclusive approach to serving the news and information needs of residents in Indianapolis and across the state.
Free Press Indiana is launching a new statewide reporting team focused on community service journalism and storytelling that serves all 92 counties. This expansion builds on the proven success of Indianapolis-based newsroom, Mirror Indy. This team will cover issues that matter to Hoosiers in rural communities, cities and small towns, and work with media partners to help fill news gaps.
In this role, you will be part of the innovation team and work closely with our social media strategist and our web producer to support the needs of both newsrooms. We estimate that 70% of your time will be spent creating/producing content for social media and 30% for the web, though that will vary. This position will require some travel in Indiana.
If you are passionate about making sure people have the news and information they need to shape their communities for the better, then we encourage you to apply.
Free Press Indiana is dedicated to equal employment opportunities for all applicants and employees. We encourage people of all races, colors, national origins, ancestries, creeds, religions, genders, ages, disabilities, veteran status, sexual orientations, and marital statuses to apply.
We hope to fill this role by early spring. Semi-finalists will be asked to complete a paid assignment designed to help us understand your thinking and approach to the role. Finalists can expect two interviews, including with newsroom leadership and reporters.
We aim to truly get to know you and to help you fully understand the role, our workplace culture and our mission.
