New Castle Courier-Times Intern

This posting is for an internship at the The Courier-Times and is not a position with Free Press Indiana.

Under the supervision of the editor and publisher, and in cooperation with their designee, the journalism intern will assist with content creation as needed and assigned. Responsibilities include producing daily/weekly and enterprise content for The Courier-Times’s print and digital products. Interns are required to produce professional content utilizing the SPJ Code of Ethics, and the Associated Press Stylebook guidelines.  The start date and timeline is negotiable and should be discussed during the interview process with the editor.

For more than 185 years, The Courier-Times has been Henry County’s dedicated storyteller. Founded in 1841 — 20 years before the Civil War— the paper originated when a wholesale grocer named John Grubbs bought a newspaper named the Indiana Sun. Grubbs moved to New Castle, renamed the newspaper and began recording the history of Henry County, Indiana and the nation. The Courier-Times continues to honor its mission as a truly local newspaper covering the full sweep of life in Henry County: from graduations to weddings, high school sports to local government, neighbors’ triumphs alongside their struggles. The Courier-Times shares news from across the street and across the world, preserving small-town character while adapting to a changing media landscape.

This internship is funded by the Henry County Community Foundation, in partnership with the New Castle Courier-Times and Free Press Indiana.
